He has served as Town Selectmen for 10 years, Town Fire Chief for 15 years and fire department for 33 years, Town Planning Commission for 12 years, and is actively involved with obtaining federal and state funding for several community projects.

Mr. Harrington has 40 years of experience in community, commercial, and private projects. His experience includes municipal water and sewer projects, ski area development, subdivision and residential development, hotel development, and gravel pit design and permitting. He has an intimate understanding of the challenges that each one of these project types presents.

Harrington Engineering has worked on several projects where local, state and federal funding were applied to the cost of the project. He's thoroughly familiar with the State of Vermont Revolving Loan, planning advances for feasibility studies, federal loan and grant programs, and the stimulus package. Harrington Engineering is committed to designing efficiency into all projects. Examples would be gravity water systems in lieu of pumping, and underground water control houses in lieu of above ground where heating is necessary. Materials which are less costly and less energy consuming are specified for projects where they can be cost competitive.
